Documentary short film: FOLK HORROR AESTHETICS
The Folk Horror subgenre aims to capture the terrifying through folklore, mythology, legends, and superstitions. It is an unmistakable derivation of the fantastic in general, and of horror in particular, which reached the various world cinemas from the sixties and seventies of the last century, with titles as emblematic as Witchfinder General (Michael Reeves, 1968) , Blood on Satan’s Claw (Piers Haggard, 1971) or The Wicker Man (Robin Hardy, 1973).
Under these aspects, Folk Horror Aesthetics is a micro-short documentary film made using the mashup technique, which briefly reviews the trajectory of this horror subgenre in the cinematographic medium. The work has been edited and post-produced by Fran Mateu, remixing more than fifty works, including classic films, but also more recent cinematographies, as well as short films, comics and video games. Therefore, it is a work carried out for educational, academic and informative purposes.
This is a n indie film directed, produced and thought by Fran Mateu with the help of Mario-Paul Martínez and Marina Díaz-Caneja Alepuz.
