Sexykiller in Cinema Detours
The new book by Mike White, Cinema Detours (ISBN: 978-1-300-98117-6), collects two-hundred twenty movie reviews written over a period of six years and published in a miscellany of media including Detour Magazine, Detroit’s Metro Times, The Mondo Film & Video Guide, Wild Side Cinema, Daily Grindhouse, and more.
Cinema Detours features films off the beaten path that represent genres all over the map: Cult, Horror, Sci-Fi, Film Festival Flicks, Action Films, Superhero Movies and even a Musical Czechoslovakian Western.
“Mike White’s sincere, superhumanly omnivorous appreciation of movies transcends all eras and genres. He attacks cinema the same way the token fat kid from an ’80s boner comedy attacks a hot fudge sundae,” says Zack Carlson, co-author of Destroy All Movies.
Maitland McDonagh, author of Broken Mirrors/Broken Minds writes, “Prepare to have your horizons expanded by White’s open-minded takes on everything from The Umbrellas of Cherbourg’s exquisite artifice to the samizdat anarchy of Tribulation 99.”
Dylan Santurri designed the retro cover of Cinema Detours. The book is available both as a print version via Lulu.com and Kindle version via Amazon.com.
